Win Friends and Influence People – Quickly and Easily

Posted January 18th, 2009 in Inspirational by Sam

Six principles in making people like you:

1. Become genuinely interested in other people.

I think we’ve all met someone that pretend to be interested in you but you can sense that they really aren’t. There doesn’t seem to be anything genuine about these types of people. We tend to label them ‘phoney.’ This is probably one case where fake it until you make won’t work. So, how do you become genuinely interested in other people? You’ll want to ask them questions. Learn what they do, what they like. Everyone likes to talk about him or herself. Get them to talk about their dreams!

2. Smile.

Not much to add, here. When you walk into a room with a smile on your face, you might as well be carrying a people magnet.

3. Use a person´s name.

Remember that a person’s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language. Just like in the old romantic movies: “Oh, John… John!” “Oh, Mary, dear Mary!”

4. Be a good listener.

Encourage others to talk about themselves. When you do this with a sincere and genuine interest in the other person you cannot fail to encourage that person to feel appreciated and valued. This is a key trait of anyone who has mastered people skills.

5. Talk in terms of the other person’s interests.

Again, this principle stresses making time to listen to others to find out what is of interest to them. Let their interests guide the direction of the conversation and you will enjoy a solid rapport that encourages friendship.

6. Make the other person feel important – and do it sincerely.

This cannot be faked for long. Look for the good in others and respect other viewpoints, beliefs and lifestyles. Even ones that do not make sense to you. This flexibility is important if you are to respect the other person.

Ways To Make Someone Smile

Posted January 6th, 2009 in Inspirational by Sam

Do you want to put a smile on someone’s face today? Maybe make their day a little better. It won’t cost you a single penny or much time to do just that. And because smiling is contagious, it probably won’t just be one person you make smile today.

Here are 20 ways to turn that frown upside down.

1. Send some flowers to your partner at work.
2. Compliment a friend or work colleague on their appearance.
3. Donate something to charity.
4. Take a friend out to lunch.
5. Let someone know you miss them.
6. Make a surprise telephone call to your partner at work, just to say hi.
7. Hold a door open for someone walking behind you.
8. Hug your partner for no reason.
9. Leave a joke on a friends answer machine.
10. Send a card to a friend letting them know what a good friend they are.
11. Give up your seat on the train to someone when there aren’t any left.

Final Goodbye

Posted December 26th, 2008 in Inspirational by Sam

sitting here…
looking there…
wondering why. .
promises fail!

broken hearts…
shattered dreams…
hunting past…
love has gone a way.

quarrels…
misunderstandings…
different perceptions…
set “us” a-part!

before its “us”
now its “you” w/o me
and “me” w/o you
see the difference?!

you where there…
i was here…
left alone…
stagnant!

you let go…
you move on…
i hang on…
i break down!

plans left unfulfilled
dreams become nightmares
reality unfolds
“its once true but now its over!”

Running From Life

Posted December 23rd, 2008 in Inspirational by Sam

I’ve tried to get away from life,
Tried to get away from me,
For a while I was successful,
But it cost tremendously.

It seems easier just to run away,
From problems than to deal,
With pain that life’s events inflict,
Emotions I don’t want to feel.

I guess I never realized,
The pain never went away,
Instead it grew stronger and festered,
Getting worse with every day.

Until the day I gave it up,
Then learned the need to cope,
Without escaping reality,
By numbing my pain with dope.

And yeah sometimes it really sucks,
To deal with all this shit,
Instead of stuffing it away,
Postponing feelings with a hit.

But then sometimes it’s really great,
To actually feel alive,
Despair is being replaced with hope,
And I have goals for which to strive.

The past few years were pretty rough,
I really got myself off track,
And oddly enough I’m grateful,
And I wouldn’t take it back.

Every experience that I have faced,
Is what has made me into me,
And with time I’ve begun to realize,
That I’m not such a bad person to be.

Winner Vs Loser

Posted December 23rd, 2008 in Inspirational by Sam

A Winner makes commitments;
A Loser makes promises.

A Winner never quits;
Loser always quits.

Winners have dreams;
Loser have schemes.

Winners say,”I must do something”;
Losers say,”Something must be done.”

Winners are a part of the team;
Losers are apart from the team.

Winners see the gain;
Losers see the pain.

Winners see possibilities;
Losers see problems.

Winners hardly get mad;
Losers always upset.

Winners never whine;
Losers always bitching.

Winners are not pretender;
Losers wannabe know it all.

Winners believe in win/win;
Losers believe for them to win someone has to lose.
